As noted above, monogamy is about control. It's also a fairly recent development, really only the last thousand or so years. And the concept of the Nuclear family is even newer, only made viable in the wake of Capitalist societies. This again is about control. Controlling men, women, and human reproduction. Have lots of kids if that makes you happy. Don't have any if that makes you happy. Why should anything other people do matter to you if they don't affect you? Humans are in no danger of going extinct unless they stupid themselves to death... But having children because you think you're supposed to (for whatever reason,) when you haven't got the time, money, or family support to care for them, is not what I would consider a good way to live. What kind of "family" is that for the child? If you don't already know the answer to that question, take a look at your local inner-city ghetto where children are fatherless, unguided and grow up to be junkies, thieves and violent criminals. Marriage is the foundation of any stable family. Having 2 sane, moral, involved parents is necessary for one's character & development into a sane, balanced adult human being.
