Big Love 2nd Episode Analysis: Viagra Blue
Quite a number of things going on all at the same time with the Hendricksons; good advertising for Viagra as Bill makes all his women happy with his drug enhanced sexuality, although this kicks off some side effects with Marge moaning much louder than she usually does… activating her young, playful, almost naked uninhibitedness even with other family members. Nicki was supposed to just talk to Bill about the loud moaning but instead wound up in Marge’s bed with Bill. Marge accidentally walked in and was correct in being hurt and disrespected as Nicki used her bed. This ignites the tensions of jealousy between two still fertile women attempting to reproduce. May I remind you dear reader that most conservative polygamous families do not believe the lies of contraception. These people are in the process of reproduction… not just for fun. The three women could not solve the problem on their own, only with the timely realization of Bill through his meditation in prayer brought in the peaceful resolution in the end.
On the more serious side, Bill has hired a security expert to protect his big family from the notorious Roman who expects more financial contribution or extortion. It was clear to me that in their community, polygamy was a hush hush thing.
It was good to see a fellow polygamous family led by Don Embry visit the Henricksons. Revealed was the talk about the possibility of Don taking in a 4th wife.
The angle about Bill’s relationship with his mother and father took a serious turn. Bill thinks his own mother is trying to poison his father. Camera focus implies that maybe Roman is the one poisoning Bill’s father and pitting the family against one another by clever manipulation. Bill shows his angry side when speaking one on one with his father. Only at the near end of the conversation would you understand the seething hate Bill had inside when we hear that at 14 years old, Bill was thrown out of the community as one of those “lost boys.” On the internet, you can search for “flds lost boys” and you will learn that insanely polygamous congregations “regularly” throw out excess boys to keep the male to female ratio fit for polygamy.
Aha! Many people mistakenly think Islam promotes polygamy. No! In the time and place where Islam was born, the polygamy being practiced was abusive and unjust with the most powerful men hoarding all the women. This is evidence that Islam is correct when it put a LIMIT of up to 4 wives per man.
I won’t fail to mention Bill’s teenagers. His son being exposed to the normal promiscuous senior girl. And his daughter being befrended by her co-worker and very religious LDS follower who thinks polygamy is outright wrong.
Conclusion: It is not correct to harshly judge the Hendrickson family for being a polygamous family of 3 wives. See where they came from: a fundamentalist polygamist cult which recommends many more wives, child brides, and kick out excess boys.

P.S. I would like to request LESS nudity please? We got the message already; Bill is a stud with his Viagra, Nicki and Marge are young and sexually reproductive women performing with gusto in a race to both bear their respective 3rd children. We expect pregnancies in the next episodes.
