Many people assume other people have the same view of marriage that they have. This is usually not the case. Look around you, with rampant contraceptive mentality, promiscuity, and boyfriend-girlfriend relationships consuming young people’s minds, their view of marriage has been distorted to mean just about anything.
There are a couple of pointed questions you must ask to see your compatibility and avoid false expectations:
- What are your views on virginity?
- What are your views on contraception?
- How about children?
- Fatherhood? Motherhood?
- Divorce?
- Financial arrangements?
- Boyfriend-Girlfriend concept?
- Religious or state ceremony?
- Monogamy? Bigamy? Polygamy?
This does not seem so hard to accomplish if you compare it with the amount of time and effort most people spend in a “relationship” after a few months or even years and all to no avail.
